Here’s a query perhaps in search of an impossible answer. I have college-era friends who I’ve kept in contact over the years, oft-times intermittently. In one particular instance, back in the day, we all served in various key posts in the Students’ Union at the University of Alberta. One lives in Kingston, one lives in Montréal. It was my intention to arrange a luncheon with both in one of the two cities (or even in Ottawa) during my recent trip.

While in Kingston I found my schedule completely booked by aspects of the General Assembly — which was my prime purpose. As I was about to leave, I realized I had not made contact with my friend there. Fear not I thought, I’ll call or e-mail when I get to Ottawa and we can contact the third guy and we’ll figure it out. Alas, the Ottawa portion of the journey became more complicated than I first imagined; then I couldn’t find their contact information. Fear not I thought, I’ll work it out for Montréal. Alas, that part of the trip turned out to be already organized. Today at lunch, at St. Hubert’s (a wonderful Swiss Chalet type chicken place, but with better sauce) I realized that I was flying home in less than 15 hours and I still hadn’t made contact…

I only hope I can be more organizationally successful around Grey Cup (which is in Ottawa this year). I think the only thing I can do at the moment is apologize to both and write a memo to self…
