The Christmas Letter in the Year of the Covid-19

Here it is…

December 2020

Greetings and Best Wishes, …

Well, there isn’t as much to talk about this year – skiing was cut short (for reasons that are still hard to fathom) and dragon-boating never happened. There was some golf and quite a bit of biking, but since the American grandkids weren’t able to visit the beaches were definitely quieter. Due to our Granddaughter getting a nice car, she was able to visit a couple of times while travelling back and forth from Alberta to UVIC. There was no CFL season so there were next to no trips to Vancouver and when in Edmonton there was limited entertainment…

ST continues to be a part of Rotary as well as hiking, walking, golfing, cycling and so on with her circles of friends.

gw mainly bikes, though occasionally golfs too. He also went on a mini-book tour in the autumn as he FINALLY finished his book. It is available for downloading & printing, free-of-charge, elsewhere on the E-Sinc website. He also moderates weekly ZOOM conversations and taught on-line at CUE this past summer.

Oh and the number of wine clubs has been reduced from a dozen to perhaps half that – although the wine cellar/cave still is adequately filled!! As are the shelves of preserves.

The rest of the news and the like can be gleaned from the various Chapters of the Epistle of Q that can be found here on the web-site. OR, by phoning or e-mailing either of us…

Here’s an up-date on the family:

  1. Chris is now Director of Finance for a Ford dealership in Fernie while Linda completes her contract as a Classroom Assistant with special needs kids in the Calgary public school system – Grandson Nick is well into his apprenticeship in auto mechanics (SAIT & a big Chrysler dealership in Calgary) while Ciera as mentioned is attending University of Victoria.
  2. Kelti is back in the classroom as a substitute teacher. The factory Brett runs has expanded. Brendan & Hayden are in Maine playing hockey this winter, taking a gap year from school; Connor is attending the Cronkite School of Broadcasting at Arizona State University.
  3. Mom, as we write, is still watching curling and taking phone calls (587) 491-0212… She is now in Long Term Care and doing reasonably well: if you’re interested best just phone during her lunch hour (12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. MST) so as to leave a voice mail that my sister Anne then plays back a couple of times so the message is fully heard and the caller sinks in…

Joyeux Noel, Happy Hanukkah & All the best in the New Year!!
